SMS credits without a foreign card
Many global messaging platforms assume a Visa or Mastercard. That is a poor fit for schools, SACCOs, and SMEs that already run on M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or local Mobile Money wallets.
Yoola SMS supports Mobile Money top-up for local markets — including Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda — so you fund SMS credits the same way you pay suppliers.
What “local top-up” means
- Pay in the currency you operate in (KES, TZS, RWF where enabled)
- No requirement for an international bank card to start
- Credits hit the account for sending on local routes
- Credits do not expire
Tied to real local pricing
Top-up only helps if rates make sense. Yoola SMS Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda routes use volume-based local pricing (for example from KES 1.30/SMS, TZS 32/SMS, and RWF 20/SMS at entry tiers, with lower rates at higher volume). You are not forced through a single “Africa credit” price that ignores local wholesale reality.
How a typical top-up works
- Log into your Yoola SMS dashboard.
- Open the top-up / wallet section.
- Choose amount and complete Mobile Money payment for your country.
- Credits appear for use on SMS (and other enabled channels on the account).
- Send campaigns or API traffic immediately.
Exact wallet options follow what is enabled per country in the dashboard.
Why this matters for operations teams
Finance can approve a Mobile Money payment without opening a USD card facility. Marketing or the school office can reload when a fee deadline campaign is due. Developers are not blocked waiting for a wire.
One account across borders
Regional organisations can keep one Yoola login while funding activity for Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the other live markets (Uganda, Malawi, Zambia) according to how the account is set up — instead of five different prepaid portals.
