Most bulk SMS still reads the same way it did a decade ago: "Dear Customer, your balance is due." Generic, forgettable, and easy to ignore — because it's obviously the same message sent to a thousand people at once.

Yoola SMS has supported personalized bulk sending for a while now — you may have already found it in the compose screen. It's just never had its own spotlight, so here it is.

What it actually does

Instead of sending one identical message to everyone on your list, you upload a simple spreadsheet with a column for each recipient's own details — name, balance, due date, order number, whatever's relevant — and each person receives a message built specifically for them, in a single campaign.

A generic reminder:
"Dear Customer, your balance is due. Please pay to avoid penalties."

A personalized one:
"Hi James, your school fees balance is UGX 120,000. Please pay before Friday to avoid penalties."

Same campaign, same effort to send — a completely different message from the recipient's side.

How to use it

1. Prepare a spreadsheet with a phone column, plus one column for each piece of information you want to personalize (name, balance, due date, etc.)
2. Upload it in Compose SMS
3. Write your message once, using merge tags like {name} and {balance} wherever you want each recipient's own details inserted
4. Send — each recipient gets their own version, automatically
