How are credits calculated for international SMS?
Each country/region has a set credit cost per SMS. When you add phone numbers in the Compose SMS page, the Network Breakdown shows you the credits for each country before you send. For example: DR Congo = 5 credits/SMS, UK = 12 credits/SMS, UAE = 8 credits/SMS. Multiply by your package rate (e.g. UGX 35/credit) to get the UGX cost. Note: Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda are billed directly in local currency, not credits.
Why do some Uganda numbers cost 2 credits?
UTL (0710-0719), LycaMobile, and Hamilton Telecom (0798-0799) operate on a premium carrier tier with higher interconnect fees. Standard MTN and Airtel numbers always cost 1 credit per SMS.
Can I mix Uganda and international numbers in one send?
Yes — just add all the numbers into the compose page together. The system detects each number's country automatically and charges the correct credits for each one. You'll see a full breakdown before you click Send.
What if my message is longer than 160 characters?
SMS longer than 160 characters are split into parts (2 parts = 2× credits, 4 parts = 4× credits). The character counter in the compose page shows you this in real time. We recommend keeping messages under 160 characters for the best value.
How do I send to a UK or USA number?
Enter the number in international format: +447XXXXXXXXX for UK, +1XXXXXXXXXX for USA. Or enter with country code without +: 447XXXXXXXXX. The system recognises it automatically and shows the credit cost in the Network Breakdown.
Are international sends reliable? How fast is delivery?
